yathā prakāśayaty ekaḥ kṛtsnaṁ lokam imaṁ raviḥ kṣetraṁ kṣetrī tathā kṛtsnaṁ prakāśayati bhārata
"As the one sun illumines this entire world, so does the Lord of the field illumine the entire field, O Bharata."
What This Means:
Just as one sun lights up the entire world, the one consciousness (field-knower) illumines the entire body-mind (field). One awareness makes all experience known.
Going Deeper:
Another illuminating analogy: ekaḥ raviḥ (one sun) prakāśayati (illumines) kṛtsnam lokam (the entire world). Similarly, the kṣetrī (Lord of the field/consciousness) illumines kṛtsnam kṣetram (the entire field). The sun doesn't become different in different places; consciousness doesn't become different in different experiences. One light, infinite illumination.
How To Apply This:
The same awareness that knows your thoughts, feelings, and sensations is the one consciousness illuminating your entire experience. Turn attention to that which illumines rather than to what is illumined. That's meditation.
