Gita 11.14
ततः स विस्मयाविष्टो हृष्टरोमा धनञ्जयः। प्रणम्य शिरसा देवं कृताञ्जलिरभाषत।।

tataḥ sa vismayāviṣṭo hṛṣṭa-romā dhanañjayaḥ praṇamya śirasā devaṁ kṛtāñjalir abhāṣata

"Then Arjuna, filled with wonder, his hair standing on end, bowed his head before the Lord, and with palms joined together, spoke."

What This Means:

Arjuna is filled with wonder (vismaya), hair standing on end (hrishta-roma—goosebumps). He bows his head, joins palms, and speaks. Awe precedes words.

Going Deeper:

The physical response is involuntary—body reacting to the infinite. Bowing and joining palms shows the instinctive response to the sacred: reverence before expression.

How To Apply This:

Genuine encounter with the sacred often causes physical response—goosebumps, tears, trembling. These aren't manufactured; they're the body's recognition of what exceeds it.

Key Sanskrit Terms:

Vismaya= Wonder, amazementHṛṣṭa-roma= Hair standing on endKṛtāñjali= Palms joined in reverence
