ārdrāṃ yaḥ kariṇīṃ yaṣṭiṃ suvarṇāṃ hemamālinīm | sūryāṃ hiraṇmayīṃ lakṣmīṃ jātavedo ma āvaha ||
“Moist, resplendent, commanding, golden, wearing gold garlands, radiant as the sun, golden Lakshmi, O Jataveda, bring her to me.”
What This Means:
Similar to the previous verse but with variations: Lakshmi is compared to the sun (sūryā) rather than moon, showing both her gentle and powerful aspects. She is yaṣṭi (controlling, commanding), prosperity gives power. Golden imagery continues throughout.
Going Deeper:
The shift from moon (candra, verse 13) to sun (sūrya, verse 14) shows Lakshmi's dual nature, cooling and heating, gentle and powerful. "Yaṣṭi" (staff, rod of command) indicates authority. True wealth includes power.
How To Apply This:
Recognize that prosperity has both gentle and powerful aspects. Sometimes abundance is cooling and nurturing (moon), sometimes dynamic and commanding (sun). Cultivate both.
