Verse 13
beginner
आर्द्रां पुष्करिणीं पुष्टिं पिङ्गलां पद्ममालिनीम् । चन्द्रां हिरण्मयीं लक्ष्मीं जातवेदो म आवह ॥

ārdrāṃ puṣkariṇīṃ puṣṭiṃ piṅgalāṃ padmamālinīm | candrāṃ hiraṇmayīṃ lakṣmīṃ jātavedo ma āvaha ||

Moist, abounding in lotuses, nourishing, golden-brown, wearing lotus garlands, radiant as the moon, golden Lakshmi — O Jataveda, bring her to me.

What This Means:

Another invocation describing Lakshmi's qualities: she is ārdrā (moist/compassionate), surrounded by lotuses, nourishing (puṣṭi), golden-brown (piṅgalā), wearing lotus garlands, moon-radiant, and golden. Agni is again asked to bring her.

Going Deeper:

This verse echoes verse 1, creating a poetic frame. "Puṣkariṇī" (full of lotuses) suggests a lotus pond — complete abundance. "Piṅgalā" (golden-brown/tawny) adds warmth to the golden imagery. The repetition of the opening prayer creates mantric power.

How To Apply This:

Return to your core intentions repeatedly — repetition builds power. Cultivate multiple forms of nourishment (physical, emotional, spiritual). Be compassionate (ārdrā) to attract compassion.
