Taittiriya Upanishad 3.3

स तपोऽतप्यत। स तपस्तप्त्वा। प्राणो ब्रह्मेति व्यजानात्। प्राणाद्ध्येव खल्विमानि भूतानि जायन्ते। प्राणेन जातानि जीवन्ति। प्राणं प्रयन्त्यभिसंविशन्तीति।
sa tapo'tapyata | sa tapastaptvā | prāṇo brahmeti vyajānāt | prāṇāddhyeva khalvimāni bhūtāni jāyante | prāṇena jātāni jīvanti | prāṇaṃ prayantyabhisaṃviśantīti |
"He performed austerity. Having performed austerity, he understood: Prana is Brahman. From prana indeed these beings are born. By prana they live once born. Into prana they enter upon departing."
What This Means:
Deeper meditation reveals that vital breath (Prana) is Brahman. Life comes from prana, is sustained by prana, and returns to prana.
Going Deeper:
This corresponds to Pranamaya kosha. A subtler understanding than food, but still not the final truth.
How To Apply This:
Recognize prana as more fundamental than food. Without breath, food cannot sustain. But even prana is not the ultimate.
