sa tapo'tapyata | sa tapastaptvā | annaṃ brahmeti vyajānāt | annāddhyeva khalvimāni bhūtāni jāyante | annena jātāni jīvanti | annaṃ prayantyabhisaṃviśantīti |
"He performed austerity. Having performed austerity, he understood: Food is Brahman. From food indeed these beings are born. By food they live once born. Into food they enter upon departing."
What This Means:
After meditation, Bhrigu first concludes that food is Brahman. All beings emerge from food, live by food, and become food upon death.
Going Deeper:
This corresponds to Annamaya kosha. It is a valid but incomplete understanding. The physical layer is real but not ultimate.
How To Apply This:
Honor food as sacred. It creates and sustains life. But recognize that food is only the outer layer of reality.
