"Bhrigu, son of Varuna, approached his father Varuna and said: "Lord, teach me Brahman." He told him: "Food, vital breath, eye, ear, mind, speech." Then he said: "That from which these beings are born, by which they live once born, into which they enter upon departing - seek to know That. That is Brahman.""

What This Means:

Bhrigu asks his father Varuna to teach him Brahman. Varuna gives him faculties to investigate and a definition: That which creates, sustains, and receives all beings - that is Brahman.

Going Deeper:

The father gives the son a method (tapas) and a criterion (origin-sustenance-dissolution). Bhrigu must discover for himself.

How To Apply This:

True teaching gives you the tools to discover, not just answers. Ask: What is the source, sustainer, and destination of all?
