"This supreme secret of Vedanta, taught in ancient times, should not be given to one who is not tranquil, nor to one who is not a son or proper disciple."

What This Means:

This ancient Vedantic secret should only be taught to the peaceful, or to sons and proper disciples - not to the unqualified.

Going Deeper:

Teaching restrictions protect both knowledge and seeker. Tranquility (prashanta) is an essential qualification. Proper relationship (son/disciple) ensures respect.

How To Apply This:

Cultivate tranquility to become worthy of the highest teachings. Approach the teaching with proper humility.
