"The all-pervading Self is in everything as butter is in milk. Self-knowledge and austerity are the root. That is the supreme Upanishad of Brahman."

What This Means:

The Self pervades everything like butter pervades milk. Self-knowledge and spiritual discipline are the foundation. This is the essence of the Upanishad.

Going Deeper:

The butter-milk analogy emphasizes that Brahman is not separate from the world but pervades it completely. The teaching (upanishad) is rooted in vidya (knowledge) and tapas (practice).

How To Apply This:

See the all-pervading Self in everything. Combine knowledge with practice - both are essential.
