tānvariṣṭhaḥ prāṇa uvāca | mā mohamāpadyatha ahamevaitatpañcadhātmānaṃ pravibhajyaitadbāṇamavaṣṭabhya vidhārayāmīti te aśraddadhānā babhūvuḥ ||

"Prana, the greatest among them, said: "Do not be deluded. I alone, dividing myself fivefold, hold up and support this body." But they did not believe him."

What This Means:

Prana (life-breath) claims to be the supreme power, dividing into five forms to sustain the body. But the other faculties are skeptical.

Going Deeper:

The five pranas are: prana (breath), apana (downward), vyana (pervading), udana (upward), and samana (equalizing). Together they sustain life.

How To Apply This:

Notice your breath - it is the foundation of life that the mind and senses depend upon.
