"The sage replied: "Space, air, fire, water, earth, speech, mind, eye, and ear - these gods, shining forth, declare: We hold up this body together.""

What This Means:

Nine divine powers (five elements plus four faculties) work together to sustain the body. Each claims to be essential.

Going Deeper:

The elements and senses are called "gods" (devas) because they shine forth and enable experience. Yet they all depend on something deeper.

How To Apply This:

Appreciate how many systems work together to keep you alive: elements, senses, mind - all cooperating.
