काली कराली च मनोजवा च सुलोहिता या च सुधूम्रवर्णा। स्फुलिङ्गिनी विश्वरुची च देवी लेलायमाना इति सप्त जिह्वाः॥

kālī karālī ca manojavā ca sulohitā yā ca sudhūmravarṇā | sphuliṅginī viśvarucī ca devī lelāyamānā iti sapta jihvāḥ ||

"Kali (black), Karali (terrifying), Manojava (swift as mind), Sulohita (deep red), Sudhumravarna (smoke-colored), Sphulingini (sparkling), and Vishvaruchi (all-gleaming) - these are the seven flickering tongues of fire."

What This Means:

The sacred fire is personified as having seven tongues with evocative names describing the flames' different appearances.

Going Deeper:

Each tongue represents different aspects of the fire's transformative power. The fire is alive, conscious, divine.

How To Apply This:

See the sacred in natural phenomena. Fire is not just combustion - it's a living presence.
