Paraphrase of Maitri Upaniṣad 6.22

"There are two Brahmans to be meditated upon - the sound-Brahman and the soundless Brahman."

What This Means:

Meditation can be on Brahman as sound (OM) or on Brahman as pure silence beyond all sound.

Going Deeper:

Shabda-Brahman is the approach through mantra; Ashabda-Brahman is direct abidance in silence.

How To Apply This:

Use sound (mantra) to reach silence. Both are valid approaches to the same reality.
