"This is the teaching about It: It is like a lightning flash — it appears for a moment and makes you blink "Ah!" — this is with reference to the divine sphere."

What This Means:

How to understand Brahman? The Upanishad offers a vivid image: it's like lightning suddenly illuminating the darkness. For a split second, everything is revealed, and you can only gasp "Ah!" This describes glimpses of the divine in nature.

Going Deeper:

The lightning metaphor captures the sudden, self-luminous, and brief nature of spiritual insight. You can't hold onto it or possess it — it flashes and vanishes. Yet in that flash, everything is illuminated. The "Ah!" (Ā) represents the natural response of wonder.

How To Apply This:

Have you had moments when reality suddenly seemed vivid and alive? A flash of wonder at existence itself? These "lightning moments" are glimpses of Brahman. Don't try to hold them — let them illuminate and pass.
