यथादर्शे तथात्मनि यथा स्वप्ने तथा पितृलोके। यथाप्सु परीव ददृशे तथा गन्धर्वलोके छायातपयोरिव ब्रह्मलोके॥

yathādarśe tathātmani yathā svapne tathā pitṛloke | yathāpsu parīva dadṛśe tathā gandharvaloke chāyātapayoriva brahmaloke ||

""As in a mirror, so in one's self; as in a dream, so in the world of the fathers; as in water, so in the world of the Gandharvas; as between shadow and light, so in the world of Brahman.""

What This Means:

Different levels of clarity exist: reflection in a mirror, dream-images, water-reflections, shadow-light contrasts. In Brahma-loka, the Self is seen most clearly.

Going Deeper:

This describes progressive clarity of Self-vision across different planes of existence, culminating in Brahma-loka.

How To Apply This:

Seek the clearest vision of Self. Don't settle for dim reflections.
