""He is to be realized first as existing, and then as His true nature. Of the two, to one who has realized 'He exists,' His true nature becomes clear.""

What This Means:

First realize "The Self exists." Then its true nature becomes clear. Start with faith in its existence; understanding follows.

Going Deeper:

Two stages: existential certainty first, then knowledge of essence. You can't know what something is until you know that it is.

How To Apply This:

Start with the simple conviction: "The Self exists." Deeper understanding will follow.
