तां योगमिति मन्यन्ते स्थिरामिन्द्रियधारणाम्। अप्रमत्तस्तदा भवति योगो हि प्रभवाप्ययौ॥

tāṃ yogamiti manyante sthirāmindriydhāraṇām | apramattastadā bhavati yogo hi prabhavāpyayau ||

""This they consider to be yoga - the firm holding of the senses. Then one becomes undistracted. Yoga indeed is the origin and dissolution.""

What This Means:

Yoga is defined as the steady restraint of the senses. In this state, one becomes fully attentive. Yoga is both the beginning and end of the spiritual path.

Going Deeper:

"Prabhavapyaya" means both origin and dissolution - yoga is the alpha and omega, the method and the goal.

How To Apply This:

Practice holding the senses steady. This is yoga - both the practice and the realization.
