स्वप्नान्तं जागरितान्तं चोभौ येनानुपश्यति। महान्तं विभुमात्मानं मत्वा धीरो न शोचति॥
svapnāntaṃ jāgaritāntaṃ cobhau yenānupaśyati | mahāntaṃ vibhumātmānaṃ matvā dhīro na śocati ||
""That by which one perceives both the dream state and the waking state - knowing that great, all-pervading Self, the wise person does not grieve.""
What This Means:
The same awareness witnesses both dreaming and waking. Recognizing this unchanging witness as your true Self ends all grief.
Going Deeper:
The Self is the constant witness through all changing states. Identifying with this witness rather than states brings peace.
How To Apply This:
What is present in both waking and dreaming? That unchanging presence is you.
