sa tvamagnuṃ svargyamadhyeṣi mṛtyo prabrūhi tvaṃ śraddadhānāya mahyam | svargalokā amṛtatvaṃ bhajanta etaddvitīyena vṛṇe vareṇa ||

""You know, O Death, the fire sacrifice that leads to heaven. Teach it to me, for I am full of faith. Heaven-dwellers attain immortality. This I choose as my second boon.""

What This Means:

For his second boon, Nachiketa asks to learn the sacred fire ritual that leads to heaven and a kind of immortality.

Going Deeper:

This shows spiritual progress - from worldly concern (family) to religious aspiration (heaven). But there is still further to go.

How To Apply This:

Spiritual growth is gradual. First we seek worldly good, then heavenly reward, finally liberation itself.
