tribhir guṇa-mayair bhāvair ebhiḥ sarvam idaṁ jagat mohitaṁ nābhijānāti mām ebhyaḥ param avyayam
"Deluded by these three modes of material nature, the whole world does not recognize Me, who am above these modes and imperishable."
What This Means:
The three gunas create a veil. When we're caught up in goodness, passion, or ignorance, we can't see what's beyond them—the imperishable Divine. Most people are so absorbed in these modes they miss the source.
Going Deeper:
This isn't moral failing—it's the nature of how consciousness gets absorbed. Like being so caught up in a movie you forget you're in a theater. The gunas are mesmerizing, and we forget what's beyond them.
How To Apply This:
Whatever state you're in—calm, agitated, or dull—remember there's something beyond the state. The very awareness that notices your state is closer to your true nature than the state itself.
