Gita 14.11
सर्वद्वारेषु देहेऽस्मिन्प्रकाश उपजायते। ज्ञानं यदा तदा विद्याद्विवृद्धं सत्त्वमित्युत॥

sarva-dvāreṣu dehe 'smin prakāśa upajāyate jñānaṁ yadā tadā vidyād vivṛddhaṁ sattvam ity uta

"When the light of knowledge shines through all the gates of this body, then one should know that sattva is predominant."

What This Means:

When all your senses are filled with clarity, when understanding comes easily, when you feel mentally bright—know that sattva is dominant in you at that moment.

Going Deeper:

'Sarva-dvāreṣu'—through all gates (the senses). 'Prakāśaḥ'—light, illumination. 'Jñānam'—knowledge. 'Vivṛddham sattvam'—increased sattva. The sign of sattva: clarity radiating through all sense doors. Eyes see truly, ears hear clearly, mind understands directly. There's luminosity to perception.

How To Apply This:

Notice moments of mental clarity when you 'just get it'—understanding flows naturally. These are sattvic moments. Note what preceded them (food, sleep, activity) to recreate favorable conditions.

Key Sanskrit Terms:
