Gita 11.53
नाहं वेदैर्न तपसा न दानेन न चेज्यया।
शक्य एवंविधो द्रष्टुं दृष्टवानसि मां यथा।।
nāhaṁ vedair na tapasā na dānena na cejyayā śakya evaṁ-vidho draṣṭuṁ dṛṣṭavān asi māṁ yathā
"I cannot be seen as you have seen Me, through the Vedas, austerity, charity, or sacrifice."
What This Means:
Krishna repeats for emphasis: Vedas, austerity, charity, sacrifice—NONE of these can grant THIS vision. What Arjuna saw exceeds what any practice produces.
Going Deeper:
The repetition (this is similar to verse 48) emphasizes the point: spiritual techniques don't buy ultimate vision. The relationship between effort and grace isn't mechanical.
How To Apply This:
Keep practicing, but release attachment to earning outcomes. The deepest seeing isn't purchasable. Grace works on its own logic.
