तस्माद्यज्ञात्सर्वहुतः सम्भृतं पृषदाज्यम् । पशून्ताँश्चक्रे वायव्यानारण्यान्ग्राम्याश्च ये ॥

tasmādyajñātsarvahutaḥ sambhṛtaṃ pṛṣadājyam | paśūntāṃścakre vāyavyānāraṇyāngrāmyāśca ye ||

From that sacrifice completely offered, the dripping fat was collected. He made the animals of the air, of the forest, and of the village.

What This Means:

From the complete cosmic sacrifice came the essence (like clarified butter dripping from the offering). From this, all animals were created — birds, wild animals, and domestic animals.

Going Deeper:

The "dripping fat" (pṛṣadājya) symbolizes the essence or vitality that flows from self-sacrifice. Animal life in all its diversity — aerial, wild, and tame — emerges from this essence. Creation is the overflow of generous self-giving.

How To Apply This:

All creatures share a common origin. The bird, the deer, and your pet are relatives — different expressions of the same creative sacrifice. Treat all animals with the reverence due to cosmic kin.
