jñātvā devaṃ sarvapāśāpahāniḥ kṣīṇaiḥ kleśairjanmamṛtyuprahāṇiḥ | tasyābhidhyānāt tṛtīyaṃ dehabhede viśvaiśvaryaṃ kevala āptakāmaḥ ||
"By knowing God, there is falling away of all bonds. With afflictions destroyed, there is cessation of birth and death. By meditating on Him, at the third stage (at death), there is universal lordship; being alone, one's desires are fulfilled."
What This Means:
Knowing God removes all bonds. Afflictions end, and the cycle of birth and death stops. Through meditation, at death one attains universal lordship with all desires fulfilled.
Going Deeper:
The three stages may refer to three bodies or three states. At the dissolution of the body (third stage), the knower of God attains cosmic powers - but ultimately remains in peaceful solitude (kevala).
How To Apply This:
Consistent meditation on God through life prepares for liberation at death. All desires are fulfilled in the absolute.
