स यदा तेजसाभिभूतो भवति। अत्रैष देवः स्वप्नान्न पश्यत्यथ तदैतस्मिञ्शरीरे एतत्सुखं भवति॥

sa yadā tejasābhibhūto bhavati | atraiṣa devaḥ svapnānna paśyatyatha tadaitasmiñśarīre etatsukhaṃ bhavati ||

""When one is overcome by light (deep sleep), then this god does not see dreams. Then in this body arises that happiness.""

What This Means:

In deep sleep, even dreams cease. The Self merges into its own light. This brings the profound happiness of deep sleep.

Going Deeper:

Deep sleep (sushupti) is blissful because the Self temporarily returns to its source, free from the disturbance of waking or dreaming.

How To Apply This:

The peace of deep sleep is a taste of your true nature. Meditation aims to access this while awake.
