तेजो ह वाव उदानस्तस्माद्उपशान्ततेजाः। पुनर्भवमिन्द्रियैर्मनसि सम्पद्यमानैः॥

""Fire indeed is Udana. Therefore, when one's fire (heat) is extinguished, one is reborn, with the senses absorbed in the mind.""

What This Means:

Udana is connected to the body's fire/heat. When body heat fades (at death), the soul departs for rebirth, with senses withdrawing into mind.

Going Deeper:

The process of death: body heat leaves, senses merge into mind, and Udana carries the subtle body to the next life.

How To Apply This:

Observe how fever, cold, and body heat relate to vitality. Udana maintains the inner fire.
