अविद्यायामन्तरे वर्तमानाः स्वयं धीराः पण्डितंमन्यमानाः। जङ्घन्यमानाः परियन्ति मूढा अन्धेनैव नीयमाना यथान्धाः॥
avidyāyāmantare vartamānāḥ svayaṃ dhīrāḥ paṇḍitaṃmanyamānāḥ | jaṅghanyamānāḥ pariyanti mūḍhā andhenaiva nīyamānā yathāndhāḥ ||
"Dwelling in the midst of ignorance, yet thinking themselves wise and learned, the deluded go round and round, afflicted, like the blind led by the blind."
What This Means:
Those who know only ritual think they are wise, but they wander in circles like blind people leading other blind people.
Going Deeper:
This verse (also in Katha) is the sharpest critique: religious knowledge without Self-knowledge is just sophisticated ignorance.
How To Apply This:
Don't assume knowledge equals wisdom. Question whether your learning leads to freedom or just more wandering.
