atharvaṇe yāṃ pravadeta brahmātharvā tāṃ purovācāṅgire brahmavidyām | sa bhāradvājāya satyavahāya prāha bhāradvājo'ṅgirase parāvarām ||

"Atharva taught this Brahma-vidya to Angir. Angir taught it to Satyavaha Bharadvaja, who in turn taught it to Angiras - both the higher and lower knowledge."

What This Means:

The knowledge passed from teacher to student: Atharva to Angir to Bharadvaja to Angiras. Each generation preserved and transmitted the wisdom.

Going Deeper:

The phrase "para-avara" (higher and lower) introduces the key distinction this Upanishad will elaborate.

How To Apply This:

Honor your teachers. Knowledge is a gift passed from generation to generation.
