Paraphrase of Maitri Upaniṣad 1.4

"In this worldly existence, what use are the enjoyments of desire? By their pursuit, one wanders again and again in this wheel."

What This Means:

What is the point of chasing desires when doing so keeps us spinning in the cycle of birth and death?

Going Deeper:

This verse expresses vairagya (dispassion) born of understanding the futility of samsara.

How To Apply This:

Recognize how desire keeps you on the wheel of dissatisfaction - wanting, getting, wanting again.
