sā brahmeti hovāca brahmaṇo vā etad vijaye mahīyadhvam iti tato haiva vidāṁcakāra brahmeti ||
"She said: "It was Brahman. It was through the victory of Brahman that you became great." From her words, Indra understood that it was Brahman."
What This Means:
Uma revealed the truth directly: that mysterious being was Brahman itself, and the gods' victory was really Brahman's victory. They became great by Brahman's power, not their own. This simple teaching opened Indra's eyes.
Going Deeper:
The direct statement "It was Brahman" (sa brahmeti) comes through Uma — through grace, not through investigation. Knowledge of Brahman is not acquired by effort but revealed through grace. The mind (Indra) becomes enlightened when it receives rather than grasps.
How To Apply This:
The truth can sometimes be stated simply and directly. What if you stopped trying to figure it out and simply received the teaching: "That presence which is aware right now — that is Brahman"?
