sūryo yathā sarvalokasya cakṣurna lipyate cākṣuṣairbāhyadoṣaiḥ | ekastathā sarvabhūtāntarātmā na lipyate lokaduḥkhena bāhyaḥ ||
""As the sun, the eye of the whole world, is not tainted by the external faults seen by the eye, so the inner Self of all beings is not tainted by the suffering of the world, being outside it.""
What This Means:
The sun illuminates dirty things but isn't dirtied itself. Similarly, the Self witnesses all suffering but is never touched by it.
Going Deeper:
This is crucial: the Self is the witness of suffering, not the sufferer. It illuminates experience without being affected.
How To Apply This:
You can witness suffering without being the sufferer. Learn to rest in that witnessing awareness.
