इन्द्रियेभ्यः परा ह्यर्था अर्थेभ्यश्च परं मनः। मनसस्तु परा बुद्धिर्बुद्धेरात्मा महान्परः॥

indriyebhyaḥ parā hyarthā arthebhyaśca paraṃ manaḥ | manasastu parā buddhirbuddherātmā mahānparaḥ ||

""Beyond the senses are the objects; beyond the objects is the mind. Beyond the mind is the intellect; beyond the intellect is the great Self.""

What This Means:

A hierarchy of subtlety: sense objects are subtler than senses, mind subtler than objects, intellect subtler than mind, and the great Self subtlest of all.

Going Deeper:

This shows where to direct attention: inward toward increasingly subtle levels, culminating in the Atman.

How To Apply This:

Move attention progressively inward: from senses to mind to intellect to Self.
