śāntasaṃkalpaḥ sumanā yathā syādvītamanyurgautamo mābhi mṛtyo | tvatprasṛṣṭaṃ mābhivadetpratīta etatttrayāṇāṃ prathamaṃ varaṃ vṛṇe ||

""May my father Gautama be calmed in mind, free from anger, and kindly disposed toward me when I return. This is the first of the three boons I choose.""

What This Means:

For his first boon, Nachiketa asks that his father's anger be pacified and that he be welcomed back with love.

Going Deeper:

Despite his father's harsh words, Nachiketa's first thought is reconciliation. He values family harmony over personal gain.

How To Apply This:

Prioritize family peace and reconciliation. Don't let anger create permanent rifts.
