hiraṇmayena pātreṇa satyasyāpihitaṁ mukham | tat tvaṁ pūṣann apāvṛṇu satya-dharmāya dṛṣṭaye ||
"The face of Truth is covered by a golden disc. O Pushan, remove it, so that I, devoted to truth, may see It."
What This Means:
The Truth is right here but covered by something dazzling — like a golden lid. The seeker prays: remove what hides the truth so I can see directly. This "golden disc" is the brilliant appearance of the world that distracts from the deeper Reality.
Going Deeper:
Hiraṇmaya (golden) represents the attractive, glittering appearance of manifestation. It's beautiful but it conceals the truth beyond form. Pūṣan is the sun deity representing illumination. The prayer is: let the dazzle of appearances be removed so the truth-seeker can perceive what lies beyond.
How To Apply This:
The world's glitter — success, pleasure, status — isn't evil, but it can blind you to deeper truths. Pray for clarity to see past the shiny surface to the reality beneath. Sometimes the golden lid is your own achievements.
