मनो वाव वाचो भूयः। मनो ह्येव वाचं च नाम चाभिधारयति। यदा मनसा मनस्यति मन्त्रानधीयेयेति। मन एव ब्रह्मोपास्स्व॥
mano vāva vāco bhūyaḥ | mano hyeva vācaṃ ca nāma cābhidhārayati | yadā manasā manasyati mantrānadhīyeyeti | mana eva brahmopāsva ||
""Mind is greater than speech. Mind holds together both speech and name. When one intends with the mind to study mantras, then one studies. Meditate on mind as Brahman.""
What This Means:
Mind is greater because it holds speech and name. Intention (in the mind) precedes speech. Meditate on mind as Brahman.
Going Deeper:
The progression: name < speech < mind. Mind is the source of intention and meaning.
How To Apply This:
The mind is behind speech. Watch your mind - it is the source of your words and actions.
