कुतस्तु खलु सोम्यैवं स्यादिति होवाच कथमसतः सज्जायेत। सत्त्वेव सोम्येदमग्र आसीदेकमेवाद्वितीयम्॥
kutastu khalu somyaivaṃ syāditi hovāca kathamasataḥ sajjāyeta | sattveva somyedamagra āsīdekamevādvitīyam ||
""But how could that be, dear one? How could Being be born from Non-being? No, dear one, in the beginning there was Being alone, one only, without a second.""
What This Means:
The father refutes: Something cannot come from nothing. Only Being (Sat) existed in the beginning - one, without a second.
Going Deeper:
This establishes the Vedantic position: Being is eternal, not created. Ex nihilo nihil fit - from nothing, nothing comes.
How To Apply This:
Existence cannot come from non-existence. The ultimate reality is eternal Being.
