""In the beginning, dear one, this was Being (Sat) alone, one only, without a second. Some say that in the beginning there was Non-being alone, one only, without a second, and from that Non-being, Being was born.""

What This Means:

Before creation, there was only pure Being (Sat) - one, without anything else. Some say Non-being was first, but the father rejects this.

Going Deeper:

The fundamental metaphysical question: Did Being come from Non-being? Uddalaka will argue that Being is the eternal reality.

How To Apply This:

Contemplate the source of all existence. What was there before anything existed?
