""Put this salt in water and come to me in the morning." He did so. The father said: "Bring me the salt you put in the water last night." He looked for it but could not find it, for it had dissolved.""

What This Means:

The father asks Shvetaketu to dissolve salt in water overnight. In the morning, the salt cannot be found - it has dissolved.

Going Deeper:

The salt-water analogy: like salt dissolved in water, Brahman pervades everything but cannot be seen directly.

How To Apply This:

Like salt in water, the Self pervades everything invisibly. You cannot see it, but it is everywhere.
