""Know this indeed, dear one: This body dies when the life departs; the life itself does not die. That subtle essence is the Self of all. That is the True. That is the Self. TAT TVAM ASI, Shvetaketu.""

What This Means:

The body dies, not the Self. The life-principle (jiva) never dies - only the body it inhabited. THAT YOU ARE.

Going Deeper:

The fundamental teaching of immortality: You are not the body. The Self is deathless. Tat Tvam Asi.

How To Apply This:

The body dies; you do not. Know yourself as the deathless Self, not the perishable body.
