सा होवाच मैत्रेयी येनाहं नामृता स्यां किमहं तेन कुर्याम्। यदेव भगवान्वेद तदेव मे ब्रूहीति॥

sā hovāca maitreyī yenāhaṃ nāmṛtā syāṃ kimahaṃ tena kuryām | yadeva bhagavānveda tadeva me brūhīti ||

"Maitreyi said: "What shall I do with that which will not make me immortal? Tell me, sir, what you know (about immortality).""

What This Means:

Maitreyi rejects wealth: What use is it if it won't make me immortal? Teach me what leads to immortality!

Going Deeper:

This is the mark of a true seeker: rejecting what cannot liberate, demanding the highest knowledge.

How To Apply This:

Ask yourself: Am I pursuing things that cannot give immortality? Seek the eternal.
