"He tried to grasp it with breath but could not seize it with breath. If he had seized it with breath, one would be satisfied merely by smelling food."

What This Means:

Breath (smell) also couldn't capture food. If it could, we'd be satisfied just by smelling a meal. The pleasant aroma whets appetite but doesn't fulfill it.

How To Apply This:

Smell, sight, and anticipation increase desire but don't satisfy it. Notice how looking at pictures of food or smelling cooking increases hunger rather than satisfying it. Real nourishment requires actual eating.
