नाभिर्निरभिद्यत नाभ्या अपानोऽपानान्मृत्युः । शिश्नं निरभिद्यत शिश्नाद्रेतो रेतस आपः ॥

nābhir nirabhidyata nābhyā apāno 'pānān mṛtyuḥ | śiśnaṁ nirabhidyata śiśnād reto retasa āpaḥ ||

"The navel opened; from it came the outward breath (apana); from apana came Death. The generative organ opened; from it came seed; from seed came the Waters."

What This Means:

The lower functions of the body also have cosmic correspondences. The downward breath (apana) that governs elimination is connected to Death (transformation, letting go). The reproductive power connects to primordial Waters (fertility, life's origin).

Going Deeper:

Even the "lower" bodily functions are divine. Death isn't evil but a cosmic principle of transformation. Reproduction connects us to the primordial creative waters from which all life emerged. Nothing in the body is profane.

How To Apply This:

Don't despise your body's "lower" functions. Elimination is letting go — a spiritual practice. Sexuality connects to the creative principle of the universe. Approach all aspects of embodiment with reverence.
