Gita 8.17
सहस्रयुगपर्यन्तमहर्यद्ब्रह्मणो विदुः।
रात्रिं युगसहस्रान्तां तेऽहोरात्रविदो जनाः।।
sahasra-yuga-paryantam ahar yad brahmaṇo viduḥ rātriṁ yuga-sahasrāntāṁ te 'ho-rātra-vido janāḥ
"Those who know that Brahma's day spans a thousand ages, and his night a thousand ages—they understand day and night."
What This Means:
Brahma's day lasts 1,000 yugas (cosmic ages); so does his night. This is approximately 8.64 billion years each. Those who understand these vast time scales understand cosmic rhythm.
Going Deeper:
This puts human concerns in perspective. Our lifetimes are infinitesimal compared to cosmic cycles. This isn't to belittle us but to expand our vision beyond immediate concerns to eternal realities.
How To Apply This:
Zoom out occasionally. Your problems, however real, exist in a cosmic context that dwarfs them. This perspective doesn't dismiss your experience; it places it in a larger frame that can bring peace.
