Gita 7.3
मनुष्याणां सहस्रेषु कश्चिद्यतति सिद्धये।
यततामपि सिद्धानां कश्चिन्मां वेत्ति तत्त्वतः।।
manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu kaścid yatati siddhaye yatatām api siddhānāṁ kaścin māṁ vetti tattvataḥ
"Among thousands of people, scarcely one strives for perfection. And among those who strive and succeed, scarcely one knows Me in truth."
What This Means:
Krishna is honest: most people don't even try to understand truth. Of those who try, few succeed. Of those who succeed, very few truly know the Divine. It's rare—but not impossible.
Going Deeper:
This verse is encouraging, not discouraging. Krishna is saying this knowledge IS attainable—you can be that rare one. The odds remind us how precious this opportunity is, not that we should give up.
How To Apply This:
You're already in a rare category if you're genuinely seeking. Don't take this seeking for granted. Most people never even ask the questions you're asking.
Key Sanskrit Terms:
Sahasreṣu= Among thousandsSiddhi= Perfection, successTattvataḥ= In truth, in reality
