Gita 7.29
जरामरणमोक्षाय मामाश्रित्य यतन्ति ये। ते ब्रह्म तद्विदुः कृत्स्नमध्यात्मं कर्म चाखिलम्।।

jarā-maraṇa-mokṣāya mām āśritya yatanti ye te brahma tad viduḥ kṛtsnam adhyātmaṁ karma cākhilam

"Those who strive for liberation from old age and death, taking refuge in Me, know Brahman completely, the Self, and all about karma."

What This Means:

Those who take shelter in Krishna to escape old age and death come to know everything: Brahman (ultimate reality), adhyatma (the Self), and karma (action and its laws). Complete refuge yields complete knowledge.

Going Deeper:

The motivation (freedom from death) is natural and valid. Through taking refuge, comprehensive understanding dawns—not as academic learning but as direct knowing. Devotion becomes the doorway to jnana.

How To Apply This:

Wanting to transcend mortality is a legitimate spiritual motivation. You don't have to pretend you're not afraid of death. That very fear, when it drives you toward the Divine, leads to liberation.
