naiva kiñcit karomīti yukto manyeta tattva-vit paśyañ śṛṇvan spṛśañ jighran aśnan gacchan svapañ śvasan
"The knower of truth, though seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, eating, walking, sleeping, and breathing..."
What This Means:
The wise person who knows reality, even while doing all the normal activities—seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, eating, walking, sleeping, breathing—thinks 'I do nothing at all.' (Continued in next verse.)
Going Deeper:
This begins a powerful teaching. The 'tattva-vit' (knower of truth) experiences all sensory activities but holds the conviction 'na eva kinchit karomi' (I do nothing at all). This isn't denial but recognition that the Self is the witness, not the doer. The body's activities continue, but the Self remains uninvolved.
How To Apply This:
Practice witnessing. As you see, hear, touch, taste—notice that there's an awareness observing all of it. That awareness isn't doing anything; it's just watching. The body sees; you witness the seeing. This subtle shift transforms your relationship with all activity.
