Gita 5.2
श्रीभगवानुवाच। संन्यासः कर्मयोगश्च निःश्रेयसकरावुभौ। तयोस्तु कर्मसंन्यासात्कर्मयोगो विशिष्यते।।

śrī-bhagavān uvāca sannyāsaḥ karma-yogaś ca niḥśreyasa-karāv ubhau tayos tu karma-sannyāsāt karma-yogo viśiṣyate

"The Supreme Lord said: Both renunciation and yoga of action lead to liberation. But of the two, yoga of action is superior to renunciation of action."

What This Means:

Krishna gives a clear answer: Both paths work. Both lead to the highest good (liberation). But if you have to choose, karma yoga (selfless action) is better than simply renouncing action. Action beats inaction.

Going Deeper:

'Nihshreyasa-kara' (leading to the highest good) applies to both paths—neither is invalid. But 'vishishyate' (excels, is distinguished) gives the edge to karma yoga. Why? Because renunciation without wisdom is incomplete, while selfless action naturally develops wisdom. Action is also more accessible—anyone can start where they are.

How To Apply This:

Don't wait until you can renounce everything to start your spiritual life. Start now, where you are, with what you're doing. Transform your current actions into yoga through attitude, not by abandoning them. This is both more practical and more effective.
