Gita 4.33
श्रेयान्द्रव्यमयाद्यज्ञाज्ज्ञानयज्ञः परन्तप। सर्वं कर्माखिलं पार्थ ज्ञाने परिसमाप्यते।।

śreyān dravya-mayād yajñāj jñāna-yajñaḥ parantapa sarvaṁ karmākhilaṁ pārtha jñāne parisamāpyate

"Superior to the sacrifice of material possessions is the sacrifice of knowledge, O Arjuna. All action, in its entirety, culminates in knowledge."

What This Means:

While all forms of sacrifice are valid, the sacrifice of knowledge (jnana yajna) is superior to material offerings. Why? Because ALL action ultimately leads to and culminates in knowledge. Knowledge is the destination; action is the path.

Going Deeper:

This establishes jnana's supremacy without invalidating other paths. 'Dravya-maya yajna' (material sacrifice) is good but limited—physical offerings bring physical results. 'Jnana yajna' (knowledge sacrifice) brings liberation. 'Sarvam karma...jnane parisamapyate' (all action culminates in knowledge) means karma yoga's fruit is jnana. You act selflessly until wisdom dawns; then action becomes spontaneous expression of wisdom.

How To Apply This:

Don't chase experiences endlessly—they're meant to lead to understanding. Whatever practice you do, ask: what am I learning? What wisdom is emerging? The goal isn't perpetual doing but the knowledge that transforms the doer. Let your action mature into wisdom.
