sañjaya uvāca evam uktvā hṛṣīkeśaṁ guḍākeśaḥ parantapaḥ na yotsya iti govindam uktvā tūṣṇīṁ babhūva ha
"Sanjaya said: Having spoken thus to Krishna, Arjuna, the conqueror of sleep and scorcher of enemies, said 'I will not fight' and fell silent."
What This Means:
The narrator Sanjaya describes the scene: After pouring out his heart, Arjuna declares 'I will not fight' and goes completely silent. He's said everything he can. Now the ball is in Krishna's court.
Going Deeper:
The epithets used are significant: 'Gudakesha' (conqueror of sleep) reminds us Arjuna is no ordinary man—he's a disciplined warrior who has mastered his body. Yet even such a person can be overwhelmed by moral confusion. 'Tushnim babhuva' (became silent) indicates he's genuinely receptive now.
How To Apply This:
After asking for guidance, stop talking and listen. Many people ask for advice but keep interrupting with their own thoughts. Arjuna's silence is active—he's creating space for wisdom to enter. When you seek help, truly receive it.
