acchedyo 'yam adāhyo 'yam akledyo 'śoṣya eva ca nityaḥ sarva-gataḥ sthāṇur acalo 'yaṁ sanātanaḥ
"The soul cannot be cut, burned, wetted, or dried. It is eternal, all-pervading, stable, immovable, and everlasting."
What This Means:
This verse reinforces the previous one with positive descriptions. The soul is: eternal (always exists), all-pervading (everywhere), stable (unchanging), immovable (nothing can shift it), and everlasting (will always exist). It's the most permanent thing there is.
Going Deeper:
The word 'sarva-gatah' (all-pervading) is significant. The soul isn't trapped 'inside' the body like a bird in a cage. It pervades the body while also being connected to the universal consciousness. Some interpret this as the individual soul being a part of the cosmic soul (Brahman).
How To Apply This:
Contemplate your own unchanging awareness. Thoughts come and go, emotions rise and fall, even your sense of self has shifted over the years—but something has remained constant: the awareness that witnesses it all. That witness is 'sthanu' (stable) and 'achala' (immovable). Rest in that.
